Chart Collective is a not-for-profit publisher from Melbourne that looks beyond the idea that people are separate to nature, to explore the ways our stories are woven into the Australian environment. Our publishing model incorporates online and printed publication of text, image and sound, as well as in situ events, affording us the freedom to explore ideas in whichever format best suits a concept, a community or a contributor.
We invite people from across disciplines and Australian communities to consider and respond to the ways their own and others’ experiences are mapped in place and time; the ways these places inform our belief systems and sense of self; the ways we influence ecological systems, and the ways they influence us. In doing this, we want to uncover and strengthen the connections we have to our places, in order to better understand, respect and nourish the ecosystems that we, as people, are embedded in.
Chart Collective would like to acknowledge that the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation are the traditional custodians of the land we work on.
Chart Collective was founded under the auspices of The Lifted Brow in January of 2014. We thank them for their ongoing support and allegiance in the realisation of our project.

Sophie Allan, Founding Editor-in-Chief
Sophie is the Founding Editor-in-Chief of Chart Collective, and the Assistant Prize Manager of the Stella Prize. She has had writing published in The Lifted Brow, Global Weather Stations and By the Book? Contemporary Publishing in Australia. Bonnie Grant, Founding Editor
Bonnie is a landscape architect. Her practice, Bush, traverses art, landscape architecture and design in both the public and domestic realms. She has written for Landscape Architecture Australia and Topos: The International Review of Landscape Architecture and Urban Design.
Phil Marshall, Founding Editor/Web Designer
Phil is a freelance writer and editor with a background in the community legal sector. He assists environmental scientists and community groups with wildlife and vegetation restoration projects in his spare time.
Jocelyn Richardson, Founding Editor
Jocelyn is a writer and musician. She has had poetry and non-fiction published in Kill Your Darlings and Ricochet Magazine and currently plays in hybrid-electronic band Golden Girls.
Colin Trechter, Art Director/Founding Editor
Colin is a Melbourne-based artist, designer and educator who grew up in the Northern Midwest of the United States. He co-founded People Collective, a small design studio in Melbourne that ran from 2009-2012. Since then he has been teaching graphic design at Deakin University and creating artworks that revolve around language play.
