Eloise Grills’s graphic narrative, “Feral”, is a deceptively simple glimpse of the dilemmas we face in our daily lives as our understanding of what it means to be a conscious, ethical and committed citizen of the world becomes more complex. The more we come to grips with the effects of the things many of us love about life in a globalised, capitalistic, patriarchal, coal-run culture, there will be contradiction, complication, uncertainty and guilt.

For many of us, this might look something like loving a cat that you know is contributing to, and responsible for, the extinction of native animals, and the degradation of ecosystems in Australia. All of our lives are riddled with these dilemmas. What defines us, is how we juggle the struggle.
